When the FA announced that all grassroots football had been concluded for the 2019-20 season, Four Oaks FC immediately suspended all activities, including training. And as frustrating as this is, it is only right that we should all follow the lockdown conditions set by the government.

While there are very few positives to be found with this awful disease, it does seem likely, that our children will not be harmed by the virus. Of course, many of them will be frustrated by the lockdown and will be missing their friends but when the time arrives, and they’re allowed to return to playing, we are committed to ensuring that Four Oaks FC continues to provide the opportunities for all local children to participate in football.

As a Community Amateur Sports Club and registered charity, Four Oaks FC survives on subscriptions and sponsorship income. Whilst we have immediately sought to reduce expenditure to the minimum, the club has several fixed costs from which it cannot escape. And while we considered the right approach, in the circumstances, was to cancel subscriptions, this leaves the club with practically no income.

We should emphasise that while the future of the club is not currently in doubt but without income, our ability to fund equipment and new playing kit (due for all teams next season) will be a challenge.

Football will of course resume and when it does, we need to be financially viable. Now, more than ever, we need your support.

We do appreciate the uncertainty that exists but when this crisis ends, which it will, we’d like to ensure the club can run effectively and welcome you and your families back. We also know that not everyone will be able, or indeed want to maintain their commitment to the club.
