Match Report

Splendid performance today which saw Villans clinch the league title in style. We got off to a flying start within a minute when a Beeno through ball to Jamie S was then threaded to Kurt to knock on and O' Reilly to poach home. Six minutes later another Gurney throw saw Kurt open his account. On ten minutes a mix up at the back saw Villans concede only their 8th goal against in the league this season. two goal lead restored on 15 mins as, surprise surprise, a Gurney throw was guided home by O' Reilly for his second. Just past the half hour mark and twinnies teamed up as Kurt found Ryan who slotted home to make it 4-1. Then five minutes before half time a Hulin free kick  was punched away by Jimmy Krankie only for Kurtis to place his header perfectly to make the half time score 5-1 to Villans. With any pressure off, Villans dominated play and put together some great moves and for a change, our finishing was excellent. On 48 minutes a great cross from Ryan was headed home by Ant for his hat trick. On 58 mins a Gurney (hat trick) throw was headed home by Ryan. Then a momentous moment momentarily as a ball from H found jake who put Ryan through to score his hat trick and Villans 100th goal of the season. On 71 mins came the goal of the season methinks. Ball comes out from Hurleys defence and H, with back to goal, turned on a sixpence, and smashed a shot from 30 plus yards into the top corner. Fandabidozie! Much celebration ensued. The scoring was wrapped up on 82 minutes when some great skill from Tommy S saw him knock the ball home for number 10. Man of the Match went to H for his wonder strike but also for covering every inch of the park and making things happen. Lots that could be written about today; spirit, comraderie, laughter and great football in between the goals. Also ridiculousness... as there were two incidents of open goals with two players fighting each other to score and missing, one from a yard out another from 4 yards out...Jake, Parkey and Tommy S hang your head in shame...and your TV volley miss Mr Reilly! Great day and still a couple more to come and one special one. Last game at Braemar Road ever for us today and the lads didnt let it go without putting in a fantastic performance. Very proud of the Villans, Sundays aint gonna be the same...
