Match Report

Heath Hayes 0 v 1 Four Oaks Panthers

We had only played Heath Hayes 2 weeks ago in the shield and Panthers came away 5 v 0 winners, today’s game was the 2nd round of the league cup and was to be a much different game.  Heath Hayes play on 3G astro turf which would suit Panthers passing game a treat.  Straight from the kick off both teams were well up for this game, the first attack came from Panthers, Nathan put a great pass through to Tom H who tried to go pass the keeper but was hurt in the process, on came Connor.  Our next attack came from Will, Ethan played a surperb ball down the left wing to Will who was having a good battle with Hayes right back, Will was about to pull the trigger back to shoot but his standing foot was took from him, penalty! but no, the ref played on, Hayes came back strong with an attack but Joe cleared an impressive ball down the field to Mitchel who skilfully beat 2 players and laid on to Connor who’s shot was well saved from Hayes keeper. Hayes came back on the left wing but the right back of Alfie would not let him pass with a strong tackle.  Hayes then kicked the ball which was put over the top of Panthers defence only to find Aidan clear it to Brad who laid it to Will who went round the right back and he put a great cross over to Nathan but once again Hayes keeper saved them again.  Hayes tried to make another attack but Tom YD safely cleared the ball.  Half time.  0v0. At half time we made 2 changes, on came Bailey and Alex and a reshuffle in the team putting Mitchel on the right midfield dropping Alex into the middle of the park with Regan, Panthers looked even stronger, time after time Panthers went forward but the Hayes keeper kept them in the game with making some great saves from shots of Regan, Nathan, Bobby, and then Ethan had the best chance but the keeper saved again. Hayes made a raw attack but Aidan was on his toes to clear well.  With 12 minutes  to go Panthers were playing their best football of the day Bailey played the ball into Mitchel who was loving his new position he cut inside and with a one two with Nathan, Mitchel fired one home, this time the keeper had no chance 0v1 relief, Panthers then made one more attack, the ball was played into the right corner to Mitchel who did the Cruyff turn to beat 3 players and laid the ball into Tom H who was back on from his early injury but was saved by the keeper, full time 0v1. Fair play to Heath Hayes they gave Panthers a tough game but we came out on top in the end, the Hayes keeper was outstanding and he made some crucial saves.  I would like to say how impressed I was with everyone today nobody gave up and we battled for everything.
