Match Report

The game against Sutton United Panthers was the Lions' own little 'local derby' and many of the players were lining up against friends and school mates so it was an eagerly awaited match!

It was another learning experience for the Lions having seemingly been 'promoted' into a more competitve group but Noah made plenty of fine saves in goal in the first half with Luke stealing the ball whenever he could and creating some attacks while Samuel raced up and down the opposite flank from left wing-back putting in some excellent tackles. Daniel was also defending brilliantly with some fantastic sliding tackles to break down Panthers attackers. Jayan started the game up front and had a couple of chances but sharp defending by the Panthers kept him out.

Substitutions at half-time gave an injection of energy from Jakey who was all over the field chasing players down and making runs while Noah continued his morning of great defending making some solid tackles. Attacks were frequent from Dom who took every opportunity to take the ball up to the Panthers' goal with Patrick providing attacking support from wing-back. It was a busy half in goal for Daniel who made some splendid saves and really put himself in where it hurts to save some shots in a crowded penalty area. It was another brave performance from the Lions who can build on the lessons learned week for the next games.
