Match Report

Life in the the Lions' new group is certainly proving a challenge to which the boys are rising to and the game against Wyrley Jaguars saw another 100% performance from all the players.

Daniel again was impressive at centre-back with more telling challenges and going in where it hurts when needed while Luke played alongside him in a dual centre-back role to try and fill any gaps on the large Cannock pitch. Patrick was terrier-like as he got right under the Jaguars' paws and came close to scoring as he broke into the area and had his shot saved while Noah was making some fine saves in goal at the other end even using his face, on one occasion to force the ball away! There were one-on-one opportunities for Patrick and Daniel which were saved and Jakey was making his trademark scampering runs all over the field.

The second half saw the Lions trying to claw themselves back into contention against a powerful Wyrley team team which had taken full advantage of its chances but Noah provided more attacking options after coming out of goal and he forced a great save from the 'keeper with a shot from distance and Samuel played a through ball to Jakey whose shot was parried away. Jayan came on late in the half to try and rescue something for the Lions and he worked hard dropping back to try and help out the defence but the Lions made do with a another gutsy showing with not one head going down and the fighting spirit evident to the final whistle.
