Match Report

The Lions played a great game against 'the Villa' and on another day the result could have been very different. The first half saw some incisive attacking play from the Lions with Noah a threat, as ever, with his free kicks and thunderbolt shots coming close to scoring on a few occasions as the boys looked to take advantage of kicking downhill. Patrick made a a number of scrambling clearances from the odd Pelsall attack when they broke through in one-on-one situations to keep the strikers at bay while diving low to save a number of powerful long-range efforts.

The tackling was again intense and competitive with Samuel all over the pitch chasing Pelsall players down and making life very difficult for them while Daniel was a 'boy mountain' at the heart of defence putting in fearless tackle after fearless tackle while Jayan looked to create some attacks from wing-back and almost got on the end of a pass from Daniel on a lightning breakway counter-attack.

After being behind at half-time against the run of play, the Lions carried on where they left off after the break with Luke coming off the bench to add more steel and energy at the back while Jakey was unleashed up front and was racing around the pitch like a whippet on Red Bull. It was all-guns blazing action in the second period from start to end and everyone had to keep their eyes on the ball with Samuel making a solid, last ditch tackle to stop Pelsall's forward getting clear through on goal and Patrick continuing to make fantastic saves while Luke was in the right place at the right time to clear one away from the Lions' goal line. Despite their best efforts, however, the Lions couldn't quite make the most of their chances in what was a hard fought match but they left the field with their heads very much held high.
